Thomas M. Crisham Earns The Best Lawyers in America® (2010) Designation — Fourth Consecutive Year
CHICAGO, IL — September 2009 — When it comes to peer respect, few trial lawyers in the U.S. can match the career of Tom Crisham. For more than four decades, the Loyola University Chicago School of Law grad has earned his reputation as a fierce advocate and litigator who is also a prolific author, sought-after teacher, valued counselor, and the consummate gentleman. It is the cumulative effect of these qualities on his peers that has earned Tom a remarkable collection of industry recognition, the latest of which is his fourth year in a row inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America.
Based on more than 2.8 million detailed evaluations of lawyers by other lawyers in the same specialties and geographic areas, Best Lawyers is among the oldest and most respected peer-review publications in the legal profession.
"Any member, not only of a profession but of any trade or group, ought to appreciate being held in high regard by his peers," said Tom. "I certainly do. But we can't take ourselves too seriously.
"I learned that lesson in my first year of practice in 1965. The managing partner called me into his office. I jumped to it all excited and wet behind the ears. He told me to get a copy of Martindale-Hubbell and list the names of every attorney practicing in Chicago 50 years earlier, in 1915. When I completed the list and returned to his office, he asked me how many of those names I recognized. I said, none. He said, exactly."
